Martina Jakov\u010di\u0107<\/strong> is a professor at the Department of Geography, Faculty of Science, University\nof Zagreb. She graduated in History and Geography from the Faculty of Humanities and Social\nSciences in 2002 and earned her PhD in Geography from the Faculty of Science in 2008. Her\nresearch interests include economic geography, the geography of consumption, and spatial\nplanning. Her research has explored the development of shopping centers and consumer\npractices in postsocialist countries, with a focus on Croatia and Slovenia. Another strand of her\nresearch examines the transformation of urban functional structures influenced by\ndeindustrialization, with particular attention to the processes and impacts of repurposing former\nindustrial and military brownfield sites. She has participated in numerous national and bilateral\nresearch projects and is the author of around forty scientific papers and book chapters. Since\n2004, she has held a continuous appointment at the Faculty of Science, where she teaches\ncourses in economic and transport geography. She has served two terms as Head of the\nDepartment of Geography, was Vice-Dean for International Cooperation from 2020, and, as of\n2025, holds the position of Vice-Dean for Finance and Business Affairs.<\/p>\n
